On Wednesday of this past week, the morning of the Summer Solstice, I attended my son’s wedding on San Juan island, WA. The five haiku I wrote that week form a sequence that I now dedicate to him and his wife. (And of course to Bjorn!)

Here’s the sequence again in full. (With a couple of minor edits.)

down the path
lit candles borne toward
the moment

the moment
at the end of night
dawn wedding

dawn wedding
racing to meet us
the world’s light

the world’s light
glinting off a ring
in a hand

in a hand
that one other hand
down the path
